Fourth Annual Conference Kansas Council for History Education "What's Your Source? Primary Sources and the Standards" October 4-5, 2009 Clarion Inn and Conference Center Garden City, Kansas The Kansas Council for History Education will hold its fall conference in Garden City, focusing on the use of primary sources and current history standards. The featured speaker will be Dr. Fritz Fischer, Chairman of the Board of the National Council for History Education. A special panel session concerning twenty-first century skills and the social studies education will be held featuring Mike Brunner of Chanute Public Schools, Nathan McAllister of Royal Valley Schools, and Lucinda Evans of Topeka Public Schools. All participants in the 21st Century Skills Summer Kansas Workshop. There will also be breakout sessions and interaction with colleagues will all be designed to improve history instruction at all levels. Registration for KCHE/HCHE members is $70 and non-members is $85. An optional guided tour of the Mid-America Air Museum in Liberal is scheduled for Sunday, October 4 between 12:30 and 5:00 p.m. Transportation will be provided. Breakfast and lunch will be provided. The conference will be held at the Clarion Inn and Conference Center in Garden City, Kansas. Contact the Clarion Inn for room rates.
